The Encontro Street Band Festival

The Encontro Street band Festival is an unabashed celebration of outdoor music - by street bands, for street bands. An exciting co-production between Oi Musica, Glasgow's SambaYaBamba and Merchant City Festival, it celebrates street and carnival music of all persuasions - bringing the spirit of hot dusty streets at carnival time right into the heart of Glasgow - a UNESCO city of music.

The Encontro Festival filled the streets with music, colour and joy on three incredible weekends in 2017, 2018 and 2019. We hope to be back with a new iteration of the festival in the near future, as the bands and partners involved recover their previous resources and energy post pandemic.
