We run a range of music courses & classes throughout the year - for young people and adults, for those new to music or for experienced players looking to develop skills or try new things.
We also run training in inclusive and non-formal approaches in music education, for youth music practitioners and music educators.
We’ll post details here and across our social media as soon as a course is announced.

Shunpike Social Club :: Spring 2025

Monday evenings: Feb 24th - March 24th (no session on March 17th)
7.30-9.30pm at Edinburgh College, Milton Road
As ever, we welcome brass/reeds/guitars of all abilities (must have own instrument) and will provide samba-style percussion instruments for drummers of all abilities.
There's something for everyone in this course, with a combination of:
- learning new arrangements as a group
- re-capping tunes from the existing Shunpike repertoire
- encouraging development of improvising skills
and do please get in touch if your financial situation might prevent you from paying full price, as we do have a limited number of 'Pay What You Decide' tickets.
The next in our series of Cuban Big Band Workshops is here!
We are delighted to be continuing our collaboration with Christian Weaver from La Timbala, who brings the most authentic experience of Cuban Big Band this side of Havana!
After the success of our last full weekender in November, we've opted for the same format - two daytime workshops and an optional informal sharing event on the Sunday afternoon. You can book a stand-alone workshop day, or book for the full 2-day weekend.

These workshops are for players of brass / reed instruments and for singers of any ability who are happy working by ear. We are delighted to welcome back vocalist Rowan Oliver-Weaver, who will be working with the singers again.
The Saturday workshop will be held at Edinburgh College, Milton Rd campus and the Sunday workshop and sharing will be at Beach Lane Social Club in Portobello. More detailed timings and public tickets for the sharing will be announced in due course.
