Oi Musica & La Timbala run twice-yearly Cuban Big Band weekenders with Cuban music specialist Christian Weaver (director of Orquesta Timbala) and vocal leader Rowan Oliver-Weaver.

Over two days, brass, reeds and vocalists, along with an invited percussion section, come together to explore the rhythms, melodies and energy of Cuban big band music. These workshops are open to singers and brass & reeds players of all abilities, with learning resources provided in advance.

It’s all about the buzz of playing this joyous, danceable music in a large ensemble — and getting inside the history, rhythm and feel that makes Cuban big band so unique.
